The Longest Holiday by Paige Toon

Laura has been married to the man of her dreams for seven months. But, she now discovers, a week before the wedding Matthew made a terrible mistake …

Escaping the heartache and humiliation, Laura is whisked off to Florida’s Key West by her best friend Marty. A carefree holiday full of cocktails and fun, surrounded by gorgeous, tanned men, is exactly what the doctor ordered. Distraction comes in the form of sexy Cuban scuba diver Leo. As the end of the holiday approaches, Laura doesn’t want to go home. Is it time to face the music? Or is there more to Key West than a holiday romance ?

Paige Toon never fails to satisfy when you need an uplifting , heart wrenching read.

I came across this book at the back of my book shelf , I could imagine Paige Toon looking shocked at this revelation saying ‘Nobody puts baby in the corner’ and I am kicking myself as to why it was at the back , why hadn’t I read it before now ? Because I should of, it is a fantastic book that I could not put down and when I did I found myself constantly thinking about it !

The sexual chemistry between Leo and Laura is so scorching. Inititially I thought Laura was going to hit it off with Rick but that was not to be and I’m glad. With the whole Leo and Laura situation at the beginning I found myself disliking Leo a little but soon warmed to him as he warmed up. Whenever I read parts featuring Eric, Carmen and Jorge I thought of Vin Diesel and gang in Fast & Furious. They were a very tight unit.

The storyline is fantastic as is the setting. It made me want to go to Key West and learn to Scuba dive even though I am not a good swimmer. This story is full of twists some are heart wrenching.

This is a story that will stay with me forever.

My Husband’s Wife by Jane Corry

When lawyer Lily marries Ed, she’s determined to make a fresh start. To leave the past behind. Even if it means a little white lie or two…

But then she meets a convicted murderer, who reminds her of someone she used to know. But there’s no way she can tell her husband why…

Where does the lying end…and murder begin?

Just the title of this book had me intrigued, was it going to be about a bigamist ?

This story is full of twists, suspense and mystery.

I loved how each chapter of this story was narrated by a different character from the story, to read others perspective of what was going on added to the suspense I felt. All of the characters were well written and all linked somehow, each character had their own secret. The chemistry between some of the characters was explosive and intimate. Ed and Lily in the early part of the story reminded me very much of Mr and Mrs Smith (Brad Pitt and Anjelina Jolie) yet the abuse was not physical it was emotional , they were constantly at each other , it was draining but certainly kept me reading. The mystery of what happened to Daniel was another factor from the beginning that kept me reading to find out.

Whilst reading this story , I felt like I was watching Lost in the manner of one of my questions would be answered yet then I would find myself questioning something else ! I loved this yet at the same time I wanted to know all the answers there and then. It was frustrating and thrilling all at the same time.

This story will make you really think, it shows you that you really don’t know what happens behind closed doors. I would love to see this turned into a drama on TV, it would certainly get good ratings.

Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book, this is my honest review.
