Welcome to the life of a junior doctor: 97-hour weeks, life and death decisions, a constant tsunami of bodily fluids, and the hospital parking meter earns more than you.
Scribbled in secret after endless days, sleepless nights and missed weekends, Adam Kay’s This is Going to Hurt provides a no-holds-barred account of his time on the NHS front line. Hilarious, horrifying and heartbreaking, this diary is everything you wanted to know – and more than a few things you didn’t – about life on and off the hospital ward.
A fantastic book that made me squirm, laugh and cry.
This book made me realise just how lucky we are to have the NHS, the staff work so hard and such long hours !! I didn’t realise how many hours a doctor will do in a day. They really are super heroes. I always wanted to be a midwife but I have to admit this book has made me glad I’m not, as a mum of 2 young children I feel I could not fully commit myself to this sort of work !
Although I felt like I could have qualified as a doctor just from reading this book, I learnt so much medical jargon from it and interesting facts.
I throughly enjoyed reading this book and recommend to everyone, BUY THIS BOOK !!
